SPLIT: Formerly engaged to be married, Carson Daly, 28, host of MTV's "Total Request Live," and "American Pie 2" costar Tara Reid, 25, are now no longer together, his publicist confirmed on Tuesday. "They're definitely split up, and they wish each other the best and that's it," said the rep. "It's private" . . . DIED: Grand Ole Opry star Johnny Russell, 61, whose song "Act Naturally" was recorded by Buck Owens and the Beatles, of leukemia and other ailments, Tuesday in Nashville . . . Acerbic Canadian author Mordecai Richler ("The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz"), 70, passed away from cancer in Montreal Tuesday. . . SUED: Music mogul Emilio Estefan Jr. (husband of singer Gloria Estefan), by Latin Grammy winner Kike Santander ("Mi Verdad"), who claims that Estefan failed to promote his career and is withholding royalties. Santander wishes to break his contract with Estefan and seeks unspecified damages and restitution, according to court papers. "We are disheartened that Mr. Santander has chosen this course of action despite all of the assistance the Estefans have provided him with his career," said a spokesman for Estefan Enterprises.
