A $4 Million Beach Boys Brouhaha

SUING: Claiming he "has been frozen out of the Beach Boys," original band member Al Jardine, 58, filed against former band mates Mike Love and Brian Wilson for about $4 million in L.A. Superior Court, claiming they excluded Jardine from recent concerts, his attorney said this week. Other defendants include the Carl Wilson Trust and Brother Records Inc., the corporate entity of the Beach Boys. (Carl Wilson, 51, died of lung cancer in 1998.) The defendants could not be reached for comment . . . DIED: Flamboyant R&B singer Ernie K-Doe, 65, who had a No. 1 hit in 1961 with "Mother-In-Law," passed away Thursday at University Hospital in New Orleans of "various internal illnesses," said a hospital spokesman. K-Doe, born Ernest Kador Jr., was one of many Big Easy musicians (Fats Domino, Aaron Neville and the Dixie Cups) who went national with hit singles in the '50s and '60s. In 1995, K-Doe, who had battled alcoholism but said that he had finally gotten his life together, opened Ernie K-Doe's Mother-In-Law Lounge near the French Quarter. He performed there most every Sunday.
