Harrison Ford Proves One Good Scout

Harrison Ford, who turns 59 this week, played heroic Indiana Jones for real on Monday in a search-and-rescue mission for a missing Utah Boy Scout. The saga took place in a forest just south of Wyoming's Yellowstone National Park, reports the Associated Press. Ford, who lives part time in Jackson, Wyo., offers his flying expertise and private helicopter for rescue missions, and put both to use in order to find 13-year-old Cody Clawson, who apparently wandered off the trail and spent a chilly, rainy night alone in the secluded forest, said the Teton County Sheriff's Office. When found, Clawson was 10 miles from a Boy Scout camp -- and soggy, cold, tired and hungry. All told, he'd been missing for about 6 1/2 hours. "Boy, you sure must have earned a merit badge for this one," the star told the scout. Replied Clawson: "I already earned this badge last summer." He said he survived the rain by taking cover under a rock. "Cody said the kids asked if he got an autograph and he said, 'No, but I got a hug and a handshake, and that's better,' " said his mother, Peggy Clawson. On Thursday's "Today" show, Cody, tongue-tied and standing at the side of his father, Kent Clawson, said that he recognized Ford "after he took off his headphones and hat." Added Kent, "What a gracious man."
