Kidman, Cruz on the Topic of Cruise
With their divorce final on Wednesday, Nicole is watching what she says about Tom, while his upcoming co-star calls a lot of news stories "lies."

As D-Day approaches this Wednesday -- the day that the divorce is official between Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman -- the actress took to ABC's "Good Morning America" on Monday to state her side of the case. "I'm a person that carries everything that happened to me in my past with me into the future," said the star, 34. "I refuse to let it make me bitter. I still completely believe in love, and I remain open to anything that will happen to me." Asked if she would comment about the purported relationship between her estranged husband Cruise, 39, and his costar in the upcoming movie "Vanilla Sky," actress Penelope Cruz, 27, Kidman responded: "I'm a woman, a mother, a daughter, a sister. I'm a real person operating in the world. For me to sit here in front of millions of people and discuss the most private thing feels wrong. It feels like I am betraying myself and my children." (Kidman and Cruise have two children, Isabella Jane, 8, and Connor Antony, 6.) Meanwhile, Penelope Cruz is doing some talking. In the September issue of Vanity Fair, she is asked about her purported relationships with Cruise, Matt Damon and Nicolas Cage. "This happens to every actor and actress who's in the public eye, and sometimes it goes too far," she says. "I don't get angry anymore, because most of those things that they write are lies." On the other hand, "Vanilla Sky" director Cameron Crowe told Vanity Fair that both Cruise and Cruz "did the rarest thing: They fell in love with (each other) on-screen . . . You watch them actually go through that hideous, great, awful, intoxicating moment. Without it, we wouldn't have a movie."
