While Madonna received a standing ovation in London's West End Monday night when she began previews for the comedy "Up For Grabs," Matt Damon is currently the object of a few jeers just a few blocks away, at the Garrick Theater. After two weeks of performing in previews of the Kenneth Lonergan play "This Is Our Youth," reports the Associated Press, the talented star of "The Talented Mr. Ripley" is planning to take a break from the show, which is about rich New York slackers. The reason for the hiatus, according to his publicist: He needs to join the U.S. promotional tour of his latest movie, "The Bourne Identity," based on the Robert Ludlum spy novel. Damon, 31, is scheduled to leave for America on May 30. How long his understudy, British actor Adam Rayner, will go on for him is not certain, but a spokesperson for the stage production told AP that the star will definitely be back in London for the show's final curtain on June 15. Damon began previews in the play May 7, taking over for Hayden Christensen, who plays Anakin Skywalker in the current "Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones."
