PASSAGES: Lil' Kim Heads West in Movie
CAST: Hip-hop star Lil' Kim (real name: Kimberly Jones), 27, is making her feature-film debut in the independent urban Western "Guns and Roses," according to the Hollywood Reporter. Also in the cast: singer Bobby Brown, LisaRaye ("The Player's Club"), Monica Calhoun ("The Best Man"), Marie Matiko ("The Art of War") and Louis Mandylor ("My Big Fat Greek Wedding"). Set in the 1800s, the action film follows five female outlaws who are out to avenge the murder of one of their own.
OFFERED: Ed and Jennifer McKee, of Oregon City, Ore., are auctioning off former Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain's childhood home on eBay, the Associated Press reports. The McKees purchased the house for $42,500 last month, not knowing that Cobain lived there, says the news service. The opening bid is set at $200,000. As of Sunday, no one had offered a bid.
WAYLAID: President Bush's niece, Lauren Bush, 17, due to model three Arab-style outfits at a fashion show in Barcelona, was forced off the catwalk late last week because she "had a stomach bug," Carlos Quinta, commercial director of the design house of Toypes, tells AP. Local press had reported that the model's mother had refused to let Lauren model the collection when she saw the silk tunics and turbans. Lauren's agency, Elite, and the organizers of the fashion show declined to comment.
FILED: Anne Marie Martin Crichton, wife of "Jurassic Park" author Michael Crichton, 59, is seeking to end their 13-year marriage, according to court papers filed in Los Angeles last Thursday, Reuters reports. The Crichtons maintain separate homes in Santa Monica and their daughter, Taylor Anne Crichton, 13, lives with both parents, the divorce petition said. Michael Crichton has been married and divorced at least two previous times.
MOURNED: Helen Giuliani, 92, the mother of former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, died Sunday after 18 months of illness, his spokeswoman said, adding, "Mr. Giuliani is doing well, and he spoke extensively and vividly about what a strong and wonderful influence she was in his life, imbuing in him a love of history, reading and geography." The New York Post reports that the ex-mayor's ex-wife, Donna Hanover, intends to attend Helen Giuliani's memorial service. ... Cyrinda Foxe-Tyler, former wife of Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler, has lost her battle with brain cancer, the New York Daily News reports. Foxe-Tyler, who is the mother of Tyler's model daughter Mia, divorced the musician in the 1980s and later wrote a tell-all book about their marriage. The two reportedly patched up their differences after she became ill.
ILL: Actress Patty Duke, 55, is said to be improving after being hospitalized Friday after suffering a concussion and skull fracture when she was apparently kicked by a horse when she tried to apply fly spray to the animal in her barn in Idaho, NBC News reports. ... Willie Nelson, 69, canceled four concerts in the Midwest after being treated for a broken blood vessel in his nose, reports AP. He is expected to be back onstage within the next week. ... Canadian folk singer Gordon Lightfoot ("If You Could Read My Mind"), 63, has been hospitalized with an undisclosed illness, CBC News reported Sunday.
SOUGHT: Supermodel Tyra Banks, 28, who established a summer camp in California two years ago to help girls develop self-esteem, plans to open a similar camp in Florida. "The facility is very important," Banks tells the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "I want to take it national as soon as possible. But I want quality control. I want it to be like McDonald's or Coca-Cola. It's the same everywhere."
