Actress Bridget Fonda was hospitalized Thursday following a car accident in Los Angeles, her publicist and sheriff's officials confirm to CNN.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Sgt. Ken Scheurn says the "Single White Female" and "Monkeybone" star, 39, lost control of her 1998 Jaguar at 7:20 a.m. while driving in heavy rain on the Pacific Coast Highway. The New York Post reports that the accident occurred on a steep incline of the highway.
Scheurn tells CNN the car was totaled. Fonda, who reportedly had been wearing her seatbelt, was transported to UCLA Medical Center with minor injuries.
Calling it a weather-related accident, Scheurn also tells CNN said there was no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. He did add, however, that the sheriff's department is investigating the incident to decide whether to issue a ticket.
Fonda's publicist, Nancy Seltzer, says the actress "is doing fine."
"We really hope with great expectation that she will be released from the hospital Friday," she tells CNN.
Fonda, whose credits also include "Singles" and "It Could Happen to You," is the granddaughter of late movie legend Henry Fonda, the daughter of "Easy Rider" star Peter Fonda and the niece of actress-activist Jane Fonda.
