Christina Aguilera can now officially be called a fashion plate.
The sometimes raunchily dressed pop star, 22, will become the new face of Versace -- a status that will position her as the focal point of the Italian label's advertising campaign, reports Reuters.
"It's just so great. I've got this ad campaign coming up with Donatella and Versace. So I'm very excited and this is a whole new world for me, so that's very exciting," Aguilera said Tuesday as she was about to take her seat in the front row of Versace's autumn/winter show in Milan.
Designer Donatella Versace tells the news service that details of the Aguilera campaign had yet to be ironed out, but already the singer is serving as a muse. (Versace, at last year's spring/summer collection, had said the same thing about Britney Spears.)
"I watch the videos of Christina and I always die," Versace said at her show, as Aguilera sat next to her. "She is a great dancer, a great singer, her voice is amazing. I always hoped I could do something with her, but I wanted to be friends first -- that is the most important thing for me."
"Oh," sighed Aguilera, touching her heart. "There are so many things I love about Donatella, and I would wear everything she's got and I am here in Versace tonight. So it's exciting."
Two weeks ago, it was also announced that Aguilera is teaming up with Justin Timberlake (Britney's ex) for a 45-date "Justified and Stripped" summer tour. Timberlake's first tour as a solo artist is in support of his double-platinum solo debut, "Justified." Aguilera will be touring in support of her second album, "Stripped."
