Jude Law Gets $10 Mil to Raise Caine
The "A.I. Artificial Intelligence" star is getting ready to make real money by remaking two Michael Caine classics, including the cad story "Alfie."

Jude Law is reportedly set to join the $10-million-a-picture club by reprising two roles made famous by Michael Caine.
The "A.I., Artificial Intelligence" and "Talented Mr. Ripley" star, 30, has been offered the princely sum to take the lead in a remake of one of Caine's early, defining films, 1966's "Alfie," about a egocentric womanizer forced to rethink what it's all about, Variety reports. (The Burt Bacharach-Hal David title song still gets played on Golden Oldie radio stations.)
The trade paper also reports that Law is the likely candidate for the Caine role in the case of the mystery "Sleuth," a London and Broadway stage smash by Anthony Shaffer that was turned into an Oscar-nominated 1972 film, which costarred Laurence Olivier. Harold Pinter is reportedly fashioning a new script.
Law is next due to be seen opposite Nicole Kidman in the movie adaptation of the novel "Cold Mountain."
And in other remake news, Carmen Electra is negotiating to join Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson in the big-screen adaptation of the '70s TV cop series "Starsky and Hutch," says the Hollywood Reporter, while Zap2it.com has an update on the search for a new movie "Superman."
According to the news site, which conducted a new poll asking who should don the cape, some 20,000 fans want "Kangaroo Jack" star Jerry O'Connell, who snagged 39 percent of the votes.
O'Connell even surpassed Jude Law, who reportedly had been offered the role and turned it down. Another name to surface in the survey: "Joe Millionaire" Evan Marriott, though his showing wasn't so strong.
