Marlon Wayans is getting ready to play Peter Sellers to Tom Hanks's Alec Guinness.
The "Scary Movie" star, 30, is joining the Oscar-winning Hanks, 46, for the Coen brothers' upcoming Disney remake of the 1955 classic British black comedy "Ladykillers" -- which starred Guinness and then-newcomer Sellers.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, this incarnation, which is scheduled to begin shooting this summer, will star Hanks as an eccentric Southern professor who assembles a gang of double-crossing thieves to sting a riverboat casino.
The guys, including Wayans's character, rent a room in an old woman's house, but when she discovers their scheme, somebody has to do away with her. Only this proves hysterically easier said than done -- at least in the first version.
Joel and Ethan Coen ("Fargo," "Raising Arizona") have written the script, which the former will direct. The latter will serve as producer.
Meanwhile, in other casting news, Elizabeth Hurley, 37, will likely star in "The Method," her first movie since giving birth to her son Damian a year ago, says the Reporter.
In it, she'll play a famous actress in a movie about a 19th century serial killer, and how her research into the part gets just a little too authentic.
