But now he just might make the best-dressed list. For wearing a skirt.
As USA Today points out, Pitt, 39, wears a flattering mini-length warrior outfit for his role as Achilles in "Troy," a Greek epic based on Homer's "Iliad," directed by Wolfgang Petersen ("The Perfect Storm") and now shooting in Malta for release next year.
"It's the biggest thing I've ever been involved in," he says of the film, which also stars Peter O'Toole, Julie Christie, Sean Bean, Brendan Gleeson and Brian Cox.
As for the "troy" costumes that show off his knees, he says: "It's something ("Ben-Hur" star) Chuck Heston ought to be walking around in, you know?"
Not that Pitt considers it a toga. "It's actually just a flat-out skirt, and it's quite comfortable."
When it came to the production of the animated movie "Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas," which opens July 2, Pitt tells the paper that delivering a voice also was a new experience for him.
His recording sessions for the main role reportedly required about two dozen sessions over four years.
"You're in this rectangle box with a big glass window," he says. "You're like in a terrarium, and they are staring at you."
Not that a Sexiest Man Alive shouldn't be used to the staring.
