Paris Heads Worst-Dressed List of 2003
Mr. Blackwell unveils his list of last year's "Fashion Fiascoes," including the "Simple Life" heiress, Britney, Madonna, Shania and Diane Keaton.

Though many Internet observers have seen her with no clothes at all, 22-year-old hotel heiress and "The Simple Life" star Paris Hilton has been named worst-dressed woman of 2003 by Hollywood's snidely funny, self-appointed fashion guru Mr. Blackwell, reports Reuters.
And she's in very bad company: Britney Spears, Madonna, Shania Twain and Diane Keaton are also on the list, according to the retired, Los Angeles-based designer.
"Grab the blinders, here comes Paris. From cyber disgrace to red carpet chills -- she's the vapid Venus of Beverly Hills!" he quipped.
Second place was a tie between those lip lockers Madonna and Spears, who Blackwell dubbed the "Kissin Cousins of Couture Crimes." In third place, Twain was christened "Calamity Twain" for her "buckled bombs and country-fried kitsch," while in fourth place, "Something's Gotta Give" star Diane Keaton was derided as "dowdy, dumpy and frumpy."
The remainder of the Top 10: Jessica Simpson, Celine Dion ("a half-sequined scarecrow, half-gaudy acrobat"), Missy Elliott, Melanie Griffith, Courtney Love and Lara Flynn Boyle, who got knocked for turning up to an awards show dressed as a ballerina.
On the opposite end of Blackwell's sharp tongue were the "fabulous fashion independents" of 2003, led by Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Garner, Diane Lane, Salma Hayek and Oprah Winfrey.
Blackwell (who is well into his 70s and has been said to be in precarious health) in a statement conceded that despite the many fashion fiascoes of 2003, "unlike years past, coming up with 10 Titans of Fashion Terror was much harder than usual." Indeed, many of his usual targets -- Cher, Barbra Streisand and various members of the British royal family -- failed to make the new list.
Stressing that point, Blackwell said that if someone like Fergie "can look fit and fabulous, hope springs eternal for us all."
