Aniston (whose new comedy with Ben Stiller, "Along Came Polly," was last weekend's No. 1 movie) and Lisa Kudrow were both on hand to support Cox at the movie's premiere this past weekend in Park City, Utah, reports Reuters.
In the low-budget, digitally shot drama, Cox, 39, plays photographer Sophie Jacobs, whose relatively peaceful life is shattered when her boyfriend (played by James Le Gros) is murdered while he's shopping in a grocery store and Sophie's waiting in the car outside. The plot deals with her various stages of accepting his death.
Cox tells Reuters that she was unaffected by the tight budget and the relatively new techniques used in making digital movies, because, she says, "I was allowed the opportunity to play a character I had never done before with such emotional depth."
Greg Harrison, 34, the director of "November" (and pegged by Variety as one of this Sundance festival's 10 filmmakers to watch), tells Reuters that "November" was written to require few characters and locations, allowing it to be shot in just 15 days for $150,000, plus another $150,000 to shape it up for theaters.
That the role of Sophie is as far afield from the grounded but fun-loving Monica of "Friends" is pretty obvious, too, with Cox saying that she hopes her career will shift to movie acting and to producing (such as the cable TV show "Mix it Up") when "Friends" tapes its final episode this week after 10 years on the air.
"I know I won't do another sitcom right away or any kind of television series," she vows.
As for the baby that she and husband David Arquette expect this summer: "It's one thing I've never done. I don't know how I feel about any of it, but I have a feeling -- I'm a pretty good multi-tasker -- so I have a feeling I'll strap that little baby on my belly, and we'll go do the things we need to."
