Beyoncé's Boys Help Foil Carjacking

Palm Beach, Fla., isn't exactly the Wild West, but Beyoncé's backing band played posse this week by rushing to the aid of a 91-year-old carjacking victim – chasing and holding down the alleged perpetrator until the police came riding to the rescue.

Authorities tell the Associated Press that Reynold Caleen, a great-grandfather of nine, attempted to thwart the knife-wielding carjacker, who grabbed the elderly man's wallet in the parking lot of a Walgreen's drugstore on Tuesday.

Caleen reputedly knocked the suspect's knife out of his hands and kicked him several times before the alleged attacker got into the older man's car and began to drive it away.

That's when lead guitarist Shaun Carrington, bass guitarist Kern Brantley and drummer Nisan Stewart, in town to rehearse for a concert with Beyoncé (who's touring with Alicia Keys and Missy Elliott), pulled in front of the car, blocked it – and pursued the troublemaker on foot when he got out and ran.

A Walgreen's employee tackled the suspect and the musicians kept him pinned down until police got there. "Gotta protect society as much as we can, you know?" Stewart told the local WSVN-TV.

The suspect was charged with armed carjacking and battery of a person over 65, which is a felony in Florida, notes AP.

Caleen's wife, Faye, confessed the couple never heard of Beyoncé. "We're more of the John Wayne generation," she said.
