Tisdale reprises her role as spoiled drama queen Sharpay Evans in High School Musical 3: Senior Year– the final installment in her star-making Disney franchise. When it opens, the big screen extravaganza tops the box office, making $42 million in its first week.
Tisdale appears on the cover of Seventeen. "I'm always surrounded by good-looking guys, like Zac Efron," she tells the magazine, "so I have to be with someone who's not going to get jealous about any of that, or when I'm kissing somebody in a scene." In 2009, she announces her split from boyfriend Jared Murillo.
Tisdale is spotted looking cozy with music-video director Scott Speer, who directed her "It's Not Alright, It's OK" video. Though the star keeps mum on her romance (she calls Speer "a really hot, good friend of mine"), the pair dates for more than two years before splitting in December 2011.
Tisdale returns to the small screen as squad captain Savannah in the CW series, Hellcats. "I definitely think cheerleaders have no fear," she tells Seventeen magazine of her role opposite Aly Michalka. "When I took the Hellcats job I was like whoa, this is a sport. Cheerleaders deserve a lot of respect for what they do." The low-rated comedy is canceled after one lackluster season.
