Plucked out of her Oxford, England, school at 9, Watson gained overnight stardom in the 2001 film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, with costars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. Emma Watson kept a wishbone she received from her dad during her audition process for Hermione. "I still have that wishbone upstairs in my jewelry box," she told Interview magazine.
When having boy troubles, Emma Watson turned to her Harry Potter costars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. "I'll occasionally go and chat to Dan and Rupert and say, 'What is going on here? I don't understand,'" she admitted at a London press conference.
Emma Watson admitted to having a crush on Harry Potter costar Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy). "For the first two movies, I had a huge crush on Tom Felton. He was my first crush," she said in 2011. "He totally knows. We talked about it. We still laugh about it. We are really good friends now, and that's cool."

1999: Handpicked for Hermione
During a nationwide casting search, 9-year-old Watson is picked out of a school assembly to audition for the role of Hermione Granger in the screen adaptation of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. On her ninth callback, Watson lands the role. "I just felt like that part belonged to me," she tells Interview magazine. "I know that sounds crazy, but from that first audition, I always knew."
2000s: Growing Up Hogwarts
Watson spends the next decade on Potter sets with Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter, and Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley. Of maturing onscreen, Watson tells Vogue Italy, "In a way, it's hard to grow up inside a film. I lived a period of my life that is full of lessons and changes under the spotlight."
