For evening wear, the luxe way to go is satin (as seen on Mischa Barton and Marisa Tomei), says Kaufman. "It's all about the shine. You make a statement walking in the room." One caveat: The material is as body-hugging as they come. "Satin is the least forgiving of all fabrics. Be prepared to show off all your curves."
