After three seasons, American Idol judges Simon Cowell (left), Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson returned for a fourth round of aural torture Jan. 18 and scored more than 33 million viewers – up 14 percent from last year's debut. But don't chalk it up to good talent: Cowell, whose scowl matched his assessment of the wannabes, tossed out a wincing "dreadful" for every embarrassing note.
