Ed McMahon, who was Carson's sidekick throughout his Tonight Show tenure, was the announcer on the ABC game show Who Do You Trust? in 1957 when Carson was named host. Of his own fame, McMahon once said: "It's not like being Robert Redford. It's the second-banana business."
