Look who's having the last laugh now: The Best Actress Oscar winner was once turned down for the lead role in the egregiously bad 1995 movie Showgirls. Today, "there's no stopping Charlize. There's nothing she can't take on," says producer friend Mimi Polk of the South African actress, who's engaged to Irish actor Stuart Townsend. Next up: The action-adventure film Aeon Flux.
