A talented musician and Beatles fan, O'Neil was remembered by hometown friend Steve Craveiro for playing guitar and writing his own acoustic folk songs. At VT, the Lincoln, R.I., graduate student in the civil and environmental engineering program researched how urban development contributed to severe flooding in the Lehigh Valley by affecting the watershed.
