AUSTIN CLOYD, 18

A freshman majoring in international studies and French, Cloyd was a talented athlete who loved working with children. Her father Bryan, an accounting professor at Virginia Tech and his wife, Renee, knew their daughter had classes in Norris Hall and could be in harm's way. After waiting for her call and searching area hospitals Monday, the Cloyds got the news they had hoped never to hear Tuesday morning. "They are devastated," says their former pastor Terry Harter.
