The Romanian-born aeronautics engineer and Holocaust survivor was hailed a hero after physically barricading his classroom door to allow students time to escape the gunman's bullets. "He had a huge affection for his students and he sacrificed his life for them," Professor Nicolae Serban Tomescu told AP Television News. A professor at VT for 20 years, Librescu is survived by his wife Marlena (left) and two sons who reside in Israel.
