A chemical engineering senior and a sister in the Alpha Omega Epsilon sorority, Turner had an interest in Tae Kwon Do and was set to take a position with manufacturing company W.L. Gore in Elkton, Md., upon graduation. Kait Brown, a former high school classmate, remembers Maxine as a "happy, generous girl who was always there to help others and rarely went without a smile on her face."
