Gwaltney was part of a sports-loving trio of pals including Ricky Castles and victim Brian Bluhm. "He'd joke with you and was definitely a good guy to be around," Castles says of the civil and environmental engineering grad student. Originally from Chester, Va., Gwaltney also had a passion for teaching. Castles said of his friend, "I think his students really enjoyed his class."
