Troubador John Mayer and pop star Jessica Simpson attempted to downplay their romance for several months, only coming clean about it at the Grammy Awards. Mayer admitted the coupling to Ryan Seacrest – albeit, in Japanese! – saying that Jessica was "a lovely woman and I'm glad to be with her." Simpson then joined Mayer on the road for his Continuum tour, but the couple would break up in May, only to get back together and split – for good – in June.
