Curtis – who forged his mother's signature so he could join the U.S. Navy at age 16 – went back on board in the 1959 comedy Operation Petticoat, where he and Cary Grant manned a pink submarine during World War II. " I don't know how I'm going to be remembered," Curtis later told PEOPLE. "I'm sure a lot of people will make jokes about me and the pictures that I made."
