In August 2006, Barack Obama, then a Senator from Illinois, visited Siaya and Kisumu counties in Kenya for the first time in 14 years. He reunited with his paternal grandmother, Sarah, as a crowd of thousands gathered to greet the future Commander-in-Chief.
