America's Youngest Convicted Killers

As one of America's youngest convicted killers goes free, we look back at the other troubled youths who spent their childhood behind bars

Jordan Brown

Age at Time of Crime: 11

Age at Conviction: 15

Crime: In 2009, Jordan of Wampum, Pennsylvania, was arrested and initially charged as an adult for allegedly shooting his father's pregnant fianceé, 26-year-old Kenzie Marie Houk, in the back of the head, killing her and her unborn child.

Sentence: While he was first charged as an adult with two counts of first-degree murder, Brown's case was later moved to juvenile court, where he was found responsible for the two murders in 2012. Brown, then 15, was sentenced to stay at a residential treatment center until he turned 21. In May 2013, the Superior Court overturned Brown's conviction, giving the boy's lawyers an opportunity to argue for a new trial. The request for a new trial was ultimately denied. He has always maintained his innocence.
