America's Youngest Convicted Killers

As one of America's youngest convicted killers goes free, we look back at the other troubled youths who spent their childhood behind bars

Sara Kruzan

Age at Time of Crime: 16

Age at Conviction: 17

Crime: In 1994, after three years of forced prostitution, Kazan allegedly shot and killed her pimp, George Gilbert "G. G." Howard, in Rubidoux, California.

Sentence: Even with Howard's history of trafficking and abusing Kruzan, a jury still found the teen guilty or first-degree murder and Kruzan was sentenced to life without parole. The juvenile's sentence led to multiple petitions for a retrial and assistance from judicial reform groups. After years of media attention and a moving YouTube video, Kruzan had her sentence reduced several times until she was paroled in October 2013 after 19 years in prison, reports CBS News.
