Vanessa Williams was on top of the world when she was named Miss America 1984, but her world came crashing down when she was forced to abdicate her title after photographer Tom Chiapel sold nude photographs of her to Penthouse without her consent – and despite promising Williams they would never leave his studio. "My God. I'm only 21 years old and I'm sure I'll have an ulcer by the end of this year," Williams told PEOPLE. "I think this would have to be the worst thing that has happened in my life. But I can't go any place but up."
