#TBT: 9 Insults We Never Expected to Be Thrown Out During the Presidential Election – And Yet…

The way a candidate eats, the size of a candidate's hands, a candidate's wife's looks – it was all fair game this primary season

Unlike another recent Republican nominee for president (cough, Mitt Romney, cough), John McCain has primarily kept quiet during the 2016 presidential race. That is, until Donald Trump brought him back to the spotlight. Trump spoke poorly of McCain's war record (he was famously a prisoner of war in Vietnam). "He's not a war hero," he said. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured." Ironic, because during the 2008 election, McCain's time as a P.o.W. and his sacrifice for the country was one of the few things that both parties could agree on.
