Washington made history in 2002 when he became only the second African-American to win a Best Actor Academy Award, taking the prize for his role as a corrupt cop in Training Day. Washington wasn't the only one feeling the joy: "My wife was going crazy," he said at the time. Julia Roberts (his costar in 1993's The Pelican Brief), who presented him with the honor, was so happy she jumped on his back.
