Next for Paltrow was Ben Affleck. They began dating in early 1998, and though Affleck called Paltrow the "woman that I love," PEOPLE reported that year, she stayed mum, telling London's Daily Mail six months later that she "would prefer to keep that relationship private." The pair (at the 1999 SAG Awards) called it quits but remained friends.
