Liza Minnelli and David Gest's 2002 wedding brought out what one witness called "the biggest freak show in the world" – 1,000 friends, including Liz Taylor and Michael Jackson. The 16-month marriage brought out the worst in both. After they split in 2003, both filed for divorce, with Gest citing repeated beatings by Minnelli. Her $2 million countersuit claimed that Gest messed up as her agent and that he "constantly berated Minnelli in public and began holding himself out as the 'star'."
