It was a fitting end to an era. On Aug. 26, the '91 and '99 World Cup champs Julie Foudy, Joy Fawcett, Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly and Brandi Chastain – all at least 32 – scored gold, leading the U.S. women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over the much younger Brazilians. "It just seemed right," Foudy said. "Not that we deserve anything special, but it's just something each of us said, that we were going to go out on top, and that's just how it was going to be."
