The success Bill Clinton was enjoying around his memoir, My Life (which has sold almost 2 million copies since its June 22 release), was cut short Sept. 3 when he went to Northern Westchester Hospital near his Chappaqua, N.Y., home complaining of fatigue and chest pains. The next day, he checked into New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery on Sept. 6. Doctors said the 58-year-old former President, who was released from the hospital Sept. 10, had more than 90 percent blockage in several arteries and narrowly escaped a heart attack.
