CBS affiliates report that they're receiving a barrage of e-mail from viewers who say they won't tune in for the news if Dan Rather, 72, is at the helm. The veteran anchorman is under fire over his 60 Minutes report accusing President George W. Bush of receiving preferential treatment by his superiors during his Vietnam-era National Guard duty. With the authenticity of his documentation under investigation by CBS, Rather – who originally stood by his Sept. 8 segment – apologized Sept. 20: "I want to say personally and directly I'm sorry."
