Dale Earnhardt Jr. might have preferred a mouthful of soap over the punishment NASCAR dealt him for saying a four-letter word. The racer, 30, lost his first-place standing Oct. 5 in the Nextel Cup, and was fined $10,000. The foul language hit the air after he told reporters that his victory "don't mean sh-- right now, Daddy's done won here 10 times." Earnhardt, whose father, Dale Earnhardt Sr., died at Daytona in 2001, also drew NBC's ire: The network placed a five-second delay on all NASCAR coverage.
