"Defense rests," attorney Mark Geragos quietly told the courtroom on Oct. 26, inching the Scott Peterson double murder trial closer to a final verdict. While prosecutors in the case against the Modesto, Calif., fertilizer salesman – accused of killing wife Laci and unborn son Conner – presented 176 witnesses in 19 weeks, Geragos's less-is-more approach used only six days and 14 witnesses. Closing arguments are expected to start on Nov. 1.
