John Krasinski: Snapshot

Name
John Krasinski
Date of Birth
October 20, 1979
Birth Place
Newton, Mass.
As smirking, practical joke-playing paper salesman Jim Halpert on NBC's Emmy-winning comedy The Office, John Krasinski has become the dude you'd most like to take home to mom – or hook up with your sister.

After a stint as an intern for Late Night with Conan O'Brien, the Brown University grad landed roles in Kinsey and Jarhead. But it was his sweet onscreen chemistry with costar Jenna Fischer that made him a star. The blossoming film actor (he starred with George Clooney in Leatherheads and headlined 2009's Away We Go) married British actress Emily Blunt in 2010. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Hazel, four years later.

John Krasinski: Five Fun Facts

  1. John Krasinski's first acting experience was as Daddy Warbucks in a sixth-grade production of Annie. "It was a bold interpretation, I didn't shave my head," he told the Boston Globe in 2005.
  2. John Krasinski and The Office costar and writer B.J. Novak (Ryan Howard) grew up together, playing little league. They both graduated from Newton South High School in Massachusetts in 1997. "He was the home run king of Little League," Krasinski joked.
  3. Before attending Brown University, John Krasinski taught English in Costa Rica.
  4. Although John Krasinski has a smash hit TV show and a blossoming film career, the Massachusetts native has one more lifelong goal to meet: "I want to start a Dunkin' Donuts in Los Angeles. I already have the perfect location picked out. It would be the old Tower Records buildings on Sunset," he told the Fresno Bee.
  5. John Krasinski lost a one-on-one basketball game to his Leatherheads director and costar George Clooney. "He just gave me that PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive smile – it stuns you for a second – and that's all he needed," he explained to Men's Health.
