John Krasinski: Snapshot

Name
John Krasinski
Birth Date
October 20, 1979
Birth Place
Newton, Mass.
As smirking, practical joke-playing paper salesman Jim Halpert on NBC's Emmy-winning comedy The Office, John Krasinski has become the dude you'd most like to take home to mom – or hook up with your sister.

Besides his adorable boy-next-door good looks, the tall drink of water – all 6'3" of him – has brains (he graduated from Brown University as an honors playwright). After a stint as an intern for Late Night with Conan O'Brien, the Massachusetts native landed roles in Kinsey and Jarhead and made his star-making turn in The Office. With a blossoming film career (he starred with George Clooney and Renée Zellweger in Leatherheads) and his sweet onscreen chemistry with costar Jenna Fischer, Krasinski has twice made PEOPLE's Sexiest Men Alive honorable mentions.

  4. Although John Krasinski has a smash hit TV show and a blossoming film career, the Massachusetts native has one more lifelong goal to meet: "I want to start a Dunkin' Donuts in Los Angeles. I already have the perfect location picked out. It would be the old Tower Records buildings on Sunset," he told the Fresno Bee.
  5. John Krasinski lost a one-on-one basketball game to his Leatherheads director and costar George Clooney. "He just gave me that PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive smile – it stuns you for a second – and that's all he needed," he explained to Men's Health.
