Krasinski earns rave reviews for his small, yet pivotal role, opposite Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin, in It's Complicated. "Without John, there wouldn't be half as much fun," says the film's writer-director Nancy Meyers. "It started as one of those parts with only a couple scenes," Krasinski adds. "Then Nancy was nice enough to add a couple more scenes. It's just really fun."
Following nine seasons, Krasinski bids farewell to The Office and the career-marking role of Jim Halpert. "It's really weird – it's a whole lifestyle change. The Office has given me everything," he tells PEOPLE. "I was a waiter when I got the show; I was 23 years old. A decade of my life! Not only has it given me every opportunity in the business, but I wouldn't have met [my wife] Emily. In a very big, existential way it's the most important thing in my life."
A rep for Blunt confirms she and the actor will welcome their first child in a few months. "It's one of those things where as soon as you meet someone you kind of know," Krasinski previously gushed of falling for his wife. "I met her and I was so nervous. I was like, 'Oh god, I think I'm going to fall in love with her.'"
