Blonde beauty Kate Bosworth gained notice as a teen in 1998's The Horse Whisperer and the WB series Young Americans. But her breakthrough came when she played a sun-kissed surf queen in 2002's Blue Crush.

Since then, Bosworth has mixed edgy indies (the fall-of-a-porn-star tale Wonderland) with more mainstream fare (2004's Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!). She went on to costar with Kevin Spacey in the biopic Beyond the Sea and play Lois Lane in the 2006 summer blockbuster Superman Returns.

Offscreen, the fashionable star, whose waif-like frame spawned major headlines, has dated Pirates of the Caribbean's Orlando Bloom and True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard.

Kate Bosworth was born with two different colored eyes – a condition known as heterochromia. The right eye is hazel and the left one is blue.

When Bosworth auditions for Robert Redford's The Horse Whisperer, the aspiring thespian brings a family Christmas card as her headshot. Her equestrian experience helps get her cast as Judith, whose death haunts her friend played by Scarlett Johansson. In September, Bosworth returns to school and graduates as a National Honor Society member and athlete in lacrosse and soccer.
2000: July
Tube Time
Bosworth plays the beautiful Bella Banks in the WB's Young Americans. Although the show is cancelled at the end of the summer, she does begin a two-year romance with costar Matt Czuchry. Bosworth also lands a small role in the movie Remember the Titans, and in 2001, defers her acceptance to Princeton to pursue acting in California. "It's interesting to think I could have gone one way or another," she later tells W. "You've got to just live your life and keep doing what you want to do."
