Holmes, 33, files for divorce from her husband of five years Tom Cruise, 49. "This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family," Holmes's attorney tells PEOPLE. "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest." In a statement, Cruise says he's "deeply saddened" by the news. In July, Holmes and Cruise reach a divorce settlement with the help of their their legal teams.
Stage Act
Four years after making her Broadway debut in Arthur Miller's All My Sons, Holmes returns to the stage in a starring role in Dead Accounts, a comedy chronicling a man's unexpected homecoming with his family in Ohio. "What I like about her is that she's very real," the actress says of character Lorna. "When I'm looking for roles to play, it's exciting to find people who are complex like this." After under-performing at the box office, the play closes seven weeks ahead of schedule in January.

After being named the brand's first-ever celebrity face, Holmes stuns with a sultry look in her debut ads for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. "I met her, and she is just a lovely person – so generous," the actress says in a statement. "I think that it's so exciting what she's built with this company. She's an incredible woman. So I'm thrilled on so many levels."
