Ripa appears on the cover of TV Guide, saying: "My body is so much better since I had kids!" She claims she weighs 20 lbs. less than she did in high school: "I lost my own baby fat when I started eating whatever fell off the high chair instead of a four-hour lunch. Running around the city every day – taking the kids to the park, pushing them in the swings – that's a life workout." That year, Ripa makes her second appearance on FHM's 100 Sexiest Women list.
While guest hosting on Live, singer Clay Aiken (left) playfully cups his hand over Ripa's mouth – who promptly smacks it away: "Oh, that's a no-no. I don't know where that hand's been, honey!" The View cohost Rosie O'Donnell criticizes Ripa on-air, calling Ripa's scolding of Aiken a "homophobic remark." Ripa wastes no time in calling The View during its live telecast: "I have three kids [and] he's shaking hands with everybody in the audience. It's cold and flu season. That's what I meant, and to imply that it's anything homophobic is outrageous, Rosie. And you know better. You should be more responsible."
The cover of Shape magazine features a bikini-clad Ripa – with one oddity. Ripa, who has an "outtie" belly button (left), is sporting an "innie" on the cover, thanks to airbrushing. On Live, Ripa expresses dismay over the arguable trickery, but admits that she really can't raise too much fuss since the magazine flew Ripa and her entire family to Turks and Caicos for the three-day shoot.
Live celebrates its 20th anniversary with an hour-long tribute. Ripa's predecessor Kathie Lee Gifford (right) joins Ripa and Philbin on stage and despite speculation that sparks would fly between the two women, they come across as close chums. Ripa tells Entertainment Weekly that when she started as permanent cohost, Gifford "sent me flowers on my first day. People say that when they first watched me, it was like she wasn't even gone. Our dynamic is very similar, I suppose."
Nearly 10 months after Regis Philbin's departure and auditioning several celebrity frontrunners (including Neil Patrick Harris and Seth Meyers), Ripa announces that former NFL player Michael Strahan will join her as the new co-host of Live! With Kelly. "It's time for a new era of our show to begin," she says at the start of the show.
