Keri & Shane's River
Russell, 31, and contractor husband Shane Deary, 30, welcome their first child, a son they name River (left). Russell tells Newsweek that picking a name is a lot harder than it looks: "I had a boy name picked out I thought was perfect. But when he came out, he was just different. He was so mellow. My husband grew up on Martha's Vineyard with some crazy hippie-named kids, and he said, 'I think we should call him River.'"
August Rush
The new mom promotes her drama August Rush, which costars Jonathan Rhys Meyers (right) and Robin Williams. Russell plays an "amazing" cellist – she underwent three months of cello lessons for her scenes with the New York Philharmonic – who tries to find her child (played by Freddie Highmore) that was separated from her at his birth. Next Up: the thriller, Girl in the Park, with Kate Bosworth.

Keri Returns to Disney Roots
Russell stars with Adam Sandler in Disney's Bedtime Stories, about an uncle whose over-the-top tales come to life. "It was like a fantasy sequence every day," she says of playing characters like a mermaid and a fairy. "There are certainly other jobs where you have to be emotional all the time or you have to memorize a ton of lines. This was like show up, hang out with Adam for six hours and then shoot for two minutes."
