Russell, 31, and contractor husband Shane Deary, 30, welcome their first child, a son they name River. "I had a boy name picked out I thought was perfect. But when he came out, he was just different," she tells Newsweek. "He was so mellow. My husband grew up on Martha's Vineyard with some crazy hippie-named kids, and he said, 'I think we should call him River.'"
The new mom promotes her drama August Rush, which costars Jonathan Rhys Meyers (right) and Robin Williams. Russell plays an "amazing" cellist – she underwent three months of cello lessons for her scenes with the New York Philharmonic – who tries to find her child (played by Freddie Highmore) that was separated from her at his birth. Next Up: the thriller, Girl in the Park, with Kate Bosworth.
Russell stars with Adam Sandler in Disney's Bedtime Stories, about an uncle whose over-the-top tales come to life. "It was like a fantasy sequence every day," Russell says of playing fantasy characters. "This was like show up, hang out with Adam for six hours and then shoot for two minutes."
Joining forces with the creative team behind Arrested Development, Russell stars in the FOX comedy Running Wilde, about a wealthy playboy (Will Arnett) trying to woo his philanthropic childhood sweetheart. "This is Will in his glory, in his stupidity, doing exactly what he does so well," Russell tells the New York Times of the series which is cancelled in its first season.
Russell, 35, and husband Shane Deary welcome daughter Willa Lou Deary to their growing brood, which includes 4½-year-old son River. "Everyone's happy and healthy," her rep tells PEOPLE.
Russell stars as an undercover KGB agent on the FX drama The Americans, which sees her character married to a stranger, also a Russian spy. "I kind of just couldn't get it out of my mind, what that marriage would be like. Paired with a complete stranger, thrown into this incredibly tense world, living this pretend life," she says of what drew her to the part.
Following nearly seven years of marriage, Russell and Deary announce their split. "They have been separated since early summer," the actress's rep tells PEOPLE. "The separation is amicable and their focus is on their children."
