After calling out fellow child actress Amanda Bynes on Twitter, Lohan is arrested for fleeing the scene of an accident in New York City, where she allegedly hit a pedestrian while driving her Porsche Cayenne SUV through an alleyway. "We are confident this matter will be cleared up in the coming weeks and the claims being made against Lindsay will be proven untrue," the actress's rep says in a statement.
For All the Wrong Reasons
Taking on her first major role in years, the actress channels the late Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime biopic Liz & Dick, which chronicles Taylor's legendary romance with actor Richard Burton. "I relate to her on a lot of levels," says Lohan, whose performance draws largely negative reviews and stirs a social media frenzy. "Living in the public eye, dealing with the stress of what other people say, whether it's true or not."
School of Hard Knocks
The actress faces more legal trouble after being arrested and charged with third-degree assault for punching a woman at a New York City nightclub. "This morning at 4 a dispute broke out at Avenue … A female 26-year-old assaulted a female 28-year old," an NYPD spokesperson tells PEOPLE of the incident, which put the actress in police custody where she was given a desk appearance ticket for a later date. That same day, Lohan is also cited for lying to the police, among other charges, stemming from a June car crash, which could potentially put the star back in jail.
Return to Rehab
To avoid jail time, Lohan accepts a plea deal that sends her to locked-down rehab for 90 days. "I don't think it's a bad thing. I think it's a blessing," she tells the Late Show with David Letterman before checking into the Betty Ford Clinic in May, and later a Malibu, Calif., rehab facility.
Back at Work
Just days after completing treatment, Lohan guest hosts Chelsea Lately, where she jokes she's "been on a 90-day court ordered vacation." The actress, who is promoting her latest film, The Canyons, also sits down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey. "I thought that she's in the best place that I've ever seen her," Winfrey says.
New Life, New Love
After knowing each other for several years, Lohan begins dating former University of Texas football star Matt Nordgren. "We've hung out," he tells Page Six, adding that the star is truly turning her life around. "She's completely sober now. She's in a great place and working hard and meeting with all the right people."
Lohan gives fans a chance to get an up-close look at her life with a documentary series titled Lindsay. The show, commissioned by Oprah Winfrey, ends with the troubled actress revealing a dark secret. "No one knows this, and we can finish after this, I had a miscarriage for the two weeks that I took off," Lohan says on the show. "I was sick. And mentally that messes with you."
