Despite being dubbed a philanderer in the press, Lopez persevered with a 2006 stint on Dancing with the Stars. His spicy chemistry with partner Karina Smirnoff resulted in a second-place finish and a two-year romance.
Named PEOPLE's Hottest Bachelor in 2008, Lopez made his Broadway debut in A Chorus Line before taking over anchor duties at Extra.

- Mario Lopez shared his first kiss with Fergie. "I'm very proud of my first kiss!" Lopez told PEOPLE. "I was 10. We were on Kids Incorporated together. She says there was no tongue!"
- Mario Lopez admitted to having sex on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. "That's a long ride, by the way," he told PEOPLE. "It's very dark...Hopefully I'll get the raft named after me!"
- At San Diego's Chula Vista High School, Mario Lopez was an A student and a champion wrestler. "I'd like to go to the Olympics," Lopez told PEOPLE in 1992.
- During an early promotional appearance for Saved by the Bell, female fans threw underwear at Mario Lopez. "You'd think they'd all be teenagers, but their moms were throwing stuff too," a surprised Lopez told PEOPLE. "I didn't think anybody watched the show."

A dancer since he was a tot, Lopez is spotted by a talent agent and cast in Norman Lear's short-lived sitcom a.k.a. Pablo. The young actor eventually joins the cast of the Disney variety show Kids Incorporated, along with future stars Fergie and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Saved by the Bell: A.C. Slater
Lopez joins the gang from Bayside High on NBC's Saturday-morning sitcom Saved by the Bell. As high school jock A.C. Slater, Lopez wins a teen following and a loyal audience. But, at the height of his TV fame in 1993, he is accused by two women of sexual assault. Although the charges are never filed due to a lack of evidence, Lopez later tells PEOPLE, "It was hurtful."

The Other Half
After returning to Saved by the Bell in a few reunion TV movies through the years, Lopez co-hosts NBC's The Other Half. A male counterpoint to The View, the daytime talk show features Lopez alongside Dick Clark, Danny Bonaduce and Dorian Gregory. "I've always said I want to be the Bo Jackson of entertainment," Lopez says. "I want to do it all."
