"We've been through a lot as a country throughout the years, and we've faced tremendous adversity," the country superstar tells PEOPLE via email of her new single, "American Heart."
"People are suffering, trying to make ends meet, and times are especially tough right now. The sentiment captures everything I think we all feel when we think about the American spirit."
The song, which will premiere in full on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. ET on Hill's Twitter account (@faithhill), finds her singing, "You can't break an American heart." (Listen to an exclusive preview of the song below.) "Musically, it's a straightforward, no nonsense reminder [of the country's spirit]," she says.
She will also be online, answering fan questions after premiering the tracks. Fans can Tweet their questions using the hashtag #askfaith.
Even though the song hasn't been released in full yet, the reviews are already (sort of) in.
"The good thing (or the bad) depending on how you look at it, is that I get so many different opinions," she tells PEOPLE of husband Tim McGraw and daughters Gracie, Maggie and Audrey's response to "American Heart." "How could I not – three girls and a husband who seems to like everything I do!"
